Looking for something to do this weekend? Journées de la Culture starts today

Quebec City (Quebec) 25 September 2015 – This weekend is the 19th edition of the Journées de la Culture (Culture Days) and there is, as usual, lots to see and do.

Starting today Friday at 1055 av. Du Seminar one can visit the Quebec Library and Archives (BAnQ) offices to examine and discuss different types of photography through the ages and how to take a good picture. Another interesting venue is the art of paper sculpturing presented by Truong Chanh Trung, a master of the art, presented every afternoon on Friday, Saturday and Sunday at 84 rue Christophe-Colomb west.

Saturday between 1 and 4pm, the Cathedral of the Holy Trinity, 31 rue des Jardins will be giving special tours up to their bell ringing tower which has a unique structure and special way of ringing church bells. The “change ringers” are a special group and are the only ones of this style in Quebec City.

On Sunday between 1 and 5pm the Centre de Conservation du Québec will be giving lectures on how art work is preserved and restored. This is a popular venue, especially since Quebec City has some of the oldest archeological artifacts in North America. Their open-house event is at 1825 rue Semple.

These are but a few of several other attractions going on which can be examined more closely through their website at www.journeesdelaculture.qc.ca.
