50 Firefighters Tackled Blaze Near Versant Nord Train Tracks

There was an uncommon sight near the train tracks running parallel to Versant-Nord, between chemin Ste-Foy and the Henri-IV highway.  significant fire in the field started at 5:45 pm needing 50 firefighters to intervene and two fire trucks to be deployed.

At its strongest point, the flames stretched over 3 kilometres. Firefighters on vacation were called in to help; the fire occupied almost all the teams during this incident. The trucks hosed the fire until the middle of the night. It took 4 hours for the firefighters to finish their work.

No damage to residences, only yards. The cause of the fire is still unknown. Among the trails, witnesses saw sparks under a National Canadian train which passed by shortly before the fire. This hypothesis is not confirmed.

The rail was closed for two hours, cancelling two Via Rail departures and lateness of merchandise.
