78th Fraser Highlanders Burns Supper 2012

Saturday 28th January saw the Morrin Centre as the venue for the 78th Fraser Highlanders 2012 Burns Supper.

Over 60 attendees were present for the annual celebration, some Scottish, some of Scottish descent and the rest, happily Scottish for the evening.

The lassies were welcomed with a corsage and the laddies got down to the serious business of renewing acquaintances and sampling various offerings of ‘the water of life’.

The command of the 78th Fraser Highlanders was assumed by the newly promoted Major Alan Stairs.
He took over from, the also newly promoted, Lt Col. Erik Plourde.

The haggis was piped in and was then addressed in superb fashion, by Hamish Williamson.
Hamish is a true Scotsman, and has called Quebec City his home for over 50 years now.

The diners tucked in to haggis, neeps and tatties with a Drambuie sauce (well, alright, it was just Drambuie).
And lovely it was too.

This was followed steak (Angus, obviously) and then a sticky pudding.

We were treated to a toast to the lassies, expertly delivered by Simon Farnell-Morisset and then a response from Rev. Katherine Burgess, the minister from St. Andrew’s church.

The evening was a roaring success and it has to be said that although Quebec City is in the grip of a bitterly cold winter, everyone who attended went out into the night full of warmth.

We’re already looking forward to the 2013 event.
