A burning house in Beauport – cause as yet unknown

(Quebec) A fire broke out in a residence located in the Beauport sector on Friday. About 25 firefighters were dispatched to 144, rue du Manege.

It was someone passing by who contacted 911 at 4:40 p.m. when they saw the black smoke originating from the second floor of the house.

Luckily, no one was inside when the fire was sparked. According to neighbours, the residence had been unoccupied for several weeks. The flames were extinguished after about fifteen minutes. After several checks, the fire was declared under control at 6:20 p.m.

“There was a lot of combustible material accumulated on the ground and in the residence. We will ask the office of the district to come and analyse the state of the situation, “said the spokesman for protection against fire in the City of Quebec, Annie Marmen.

An investigation was opened to determine the origin and cause of the fire.
