Ashton’s Run Out of Cheese – You’re Kidding, Right?

Get Yourself to Ashton’s – The Severe Cold Snap Won’t Last Forever

It’ll not remain 20c below forever, so it’s poutine time.

PoutineAshton restaurants and their weather discounts on poutine have been such a success this week in Quebec that the outlets finish the day with barely any stock left.

For the potatoes and sauce there is no problem, but at closing time, around midnight, there’s no more cheese.

For those who aren’t aware, the discount follows the temperature curve. There is a 10%minimum rebate in January. Just take a look at the number of cars in the drive-through in the evening to see how this marketing technique is a success.

It has been a while since Quebec had a whole week of coldness like this one. The transactions are much bigger and more staff have been added to meet the demand.

This promotion, well known in the region, started in 1995 and the clients wait impatiently for the month of January. The discount peeked at 33% twice in 18 years in 1997 and 2009.

Patience is required if you want to enjoy a poutine, but it is worth the wait!
