Aurian Haller Band CD Launch Night

Aurian Haller Band CD Launch Night

The Aurian Haller Band launch their debut CD ‘Normal Town’.

Those who were present at the Morrin Centre for the 8th April 2011 bash really were treated to something special.

The band, comprising of Aurian Haller, Paul Hinton, Daniel Marcoux and Barry Nameth performed a host of tracks from the album, much to the delight of the enthusiastic and appreciative audience.

The evening was a relaxed affair with all of the band members chatting to the audience between songs.

The acoustics in the Morrin Centre definitely adding to the occasion.

The Aurian Haller Band infuses a combination of pop, jazz and folk to create a unique sound.

Steel and electric guitar, string bass, cello, vibes, piano and acoustic guitar are all heard on Normal Town.

Aurian Haller, the lead singer, says that he is influenced by Leonard Cohen, Nick Drake, Joni Mitchell and Daniel Bélanger.

It must be said though, that collectively, the team boasts a huge talent and with the right backing and publicity, this band should go far.

Aurian himself is an award-winning poet and singer/songwriter (Canadian National Magazine Award for poetry, amongst others).

Live music is always fun and this evening was no exception.

Perhaps the most memorable was seeing Aurian’s 4 year old son holding up the lyrics sheet to one of the songs he hadn’t quite learnt off pat.

The next most memorable was viewing a crowd member slowly turning the lights off one by one mid song.
The look on Aurian’s face was priceless (when we could see it).

All in all, a wonderful evening and all of us at LifeinQuebec.com would like to wish the band good luck and continued success from here on.
