Bagel Maguire Develops Square Bagel

A new factory in Vanier, a whole year of research and development of a new product unique in the world according to Bagel Maguire, a corrected and partly reinvented magazine chain, and $11 million invested, this is what it took to create and market a rectangular bagel.

No more holes with the Bagelwich! This is what François Joyet, coowner of Bagel Maguire with Jacques Tanguay and Daniel Tremblay imagines in a near future. In the early 90’s, Mr. Joyet multiplied his presentations of these Montreal style bagels, which are boiled before being cooked. People would bug about the hole and not the actual taste of the product. But this product wont only be used to make “hole-less” sandwiches, although it is already displayed in 85% of grocery stores in Canada. Already, steps have been taken to have a product with chocolate in collaboration with Nutriart.

The marketing campaign is also special since it created a comic book, and its characters, Bagelwich and his friends. The goal is to get the rectangular bagel known, but also to incite kids to eat healthy and exercise. The bagel is composed of 9 ingredients. It contains less sodium, no trans fat while still being an excellent source of fiber to contribute to healthy eating habits.
