Borrowing E-Books Soon Available in Lévis Libraries

(Quebec) Borrowing electronic books will soon make its entry in Levis libraries in 2013.

Already offered in libraries in Québec and Montréal for a year, virtual books will be accessible for Lévis for spring, thanks to a provincial platform.

Lévis’ library service predicts that about 10% of the acquisition budget will be for virtual books. The collection will be mainly in French and more specifically, from Quebec, because it is available on the francophone market.

When going directly on www.bibliotheques.ville.levis.qc.ca, members will be able to click on the numerical tab and can borrow an electronic copy. This has no impact on costs for the city but no savings either. Electronic books are barely less expensive than print.

This service will be very popular since there are already constant demands from the clientel.
