Canada Day 2011 on the Plains of Abraham

Canada Day – The Plains of Abraham open their doors.

Québec, 2011 – In order to mark Canada Day, the National Battlefields Commission invites the public to be part of the history of the Plains of Abraham by visiting the park’s outstanding attractions. In fact, this July 1st, the Odyssey Multimedia Exhibition as well as Martello Tower 1 will open their doors to visitors and their families free of charge.

Odyssey Multimedia Exhibition
From 10:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., at the Discovery Pavilion of the Plains of Abraham, 835, Wilfrid-Laurier Avenue, level 0, Québec
Through a series of multimedia presentations, replicas of artefacts and uniforms and interactive games, you will get a chance to relive in person the 400 years of history that helped shape the park, the country and the rich history existing within them.

Martello Tower 1
From 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., on the overhang overlooking the St. Lawrence River in Québec
Go into Martello 1 and view the military engineering exhibit to learn about the history of the towers, their function, their architecture and the life of the soldiers occupying them. Completed in 1812 to prevent the invader to come near the town fortifications, the only Martello towers left in the entire province are located in Québec City.
Please note that the Odyssey multimedia exhibition is open year round, and that Martello Tower 1 will continue offering its activities until next September 5.
