Quebec City (Quebec) 6 January 2015 – The month of December was a tough time for Le Capitole de Québec theatre on St. Jean Street, here in Quebec City.

The problems started when some of the artists who were scheduled to perform took sick and could not honour their respective presentations.

One singer, Dennis DeYoung in particular, had to cancel all his shows from the 16th of December on. The ex lead singer from Styx, 67, fell so sick that he could not perform and left the theatre on the sixteenth never to return. He was scheduled to give two last shows on January 2nd and 3rd.

Another popular attraction slated to perform during the holidays was Ginette Reno who unfortunately also had to opt out of her obligations because of sickness. Mme Reno was to give three pre-Christmas concerts on the 19th, 20th and 21st, of December but was unable to show-up because of illness.

The spokesperson for Le Capitole, Dominique Thomas, explained that it was a difficult period for the theatre as December is one of its most profitable months.

Out of 24 shows only 13 were able to be presented which in dollars represents about $65,000 for every cancelled presentation.

Since most people usually consume beverages and enjoy a meal at the adjoining restaurant before and during a show, a considerable amount of dollars were obviously spent elsewhere.

The New Year’s Eve show was particularly affected mainly because it was oriented towards welcoming the New Year, but without its star performer the celebrations were somewhat subdued. A New Year’s Eve party can only be held on December 31st.

The shows that were cancelled have been rescheduled with Ginette Reno coming back on Jan 23rd, 24th and 25th and Dennis DeYoung expected to return for the 4th, 5th, 7th and 8th of March.

Any reimbursements or refunds will be accorded by contacting the theatre’s ticket office at 418-694-4444.
