CEDEC Needs Small Business Support Coordinator

Summer Student – Small Business Support Coordinator

Location: Quebec Chaudière-Appalaches (Québec City)

Terms of Employment: Full-time (37.5 hours per week for 10 weeks from June 6 to August 12, 2011)

Salary: $11.25 per hour

CEDEC, in collaboration with the Canada Summer Jobs placement program, is recruiting a Small Business Support Coordinator to work at its Quebec Chaudière-Appalaches (QCA) office. The Coordinator will assist in the establishment of CEDEC’s Small Business Support Network (SBSN) group in QCA, which aims to provide networking and skills development opportunities for entrepreneurs.

The student will work in collaboration with community partners to promote entrepreneurship services, and aid in the program development of this regional SBSN group. This dynamic individual will be comfortable consulting community members, partners, and regional service providers, and assisting in meeting preparation and facilitation. The ideal candidate will have experience in event planning, marketing, and promotion.

Description of Tasks:

Analyse the needs and challenges faced by small business owners regionally
Expand network of English-speaking entrepreneurs in the QCA area
Organize meetings with community partners collaborating with CEDEC’s Small Business Support Network (SBSN) group in Quebec Chaudière-Appalaches
Assist in the development of the initial year’s activities, including recruitment of workshop presenters
Organize, develop, and implement promotional campaign for SBSN activities in the QCA area

Qualifications:
Business Administration, Communications, Entrepreneurship, Economic Development, Human Resources, or other relevant studies / experience

Bilingual: English and French (spoken & written)
Efficiency in Windows-based applications and database management
Excellent organizational, interpersonal and communications skills
