Celebrations to welcome in 2015 on Grande Allée

Quebec City (Quebec) 31 December 2014 – Since 2009 Quebec City has set up some spectacular installations to help its citizens welcome in the New Year and this year is no exception. Despite the sub zero temperatures the Big Ferris Wheel and the stage with all its light shows is once again in place on Grande Allée for everyone to enjoy and to greet 2015.

The famous avenue is closed to traffic for the next 48 hours and will be dedicated to pedestrians, holiday parties, and just plain fun up until 5pm January 2nd.

This year’s guest artist is a DJ by the name of Destructo.

There will be dancing, music and light shows starting around 8pm the 31st with Destructo taking the stage at 11pm until 1am.

At precisely midnight a giant fireworks display with music and lights will dominate the scene welcoming the New Year.

Since Boy George was present in 2012 for the show, the internet website Impressive Magazine, has placed Quebec City among the top 5 places to celebrate the New Year in the world, behind Berlin, Sydney, London and Hong Kong.

The hotels in the area are all booked and the restaurants on Grande Allée are hoping to cash-in on the event.

The merchants involved have supplied $200,000 of their own money with the city coughing up another $365,000 to cover the expenses of the 24 hour extravaganza.

From all of us at LifeinQuebec.com we wish all our readers a prosperous 2015 and thank you all for being there in 2014.
