Christmas Benefit Concert for the Philippines

Christmas Benefit Concert for the Philippines

A Christmas benefit concert, in partnership with the “Association Philippine Québécoise”, will be held at the “Cercle” on December 15th at 7 :30 p.m. Proceeds will go to the Red Cross in order to raise money to help the victims of typhoon Haiyan. The “Choeur et Christ” Gospel group of University Laval, Eric Kaluma (DJ Kalu), Grace Ngambo as well as the Filipiniana folkloric dance troupe will come together to offer a holiday presentation with a theme of international solidarity and humanitarianism.

The “Choeur et Christ” Gospel choir, formed several years ago at university Laval by Secondine Sendje, has performed on several occasions at the “Théâtre de la Cite universitaire”, as well as participated in different events such as the African Nights Festival. The choir has also performed with such gospel icons as Leah Bicep and Maggie Blanchard, both well known personalities in Francophone Gospel circles. Leah Biceps has among other things interpreted the role of Nala in the well known musical The Lion King. The DJ Kalu (Eric Kaluma) is a reggae artist who has worked and produced with Charly Yapo as well as taken part in a number of gospel projects in France. Kaluma’s music has a very distinguishable energy which portrays enthousiasm and a spirit of hope. And finally, Grace Ngambo, a new comer on the Quebec musical scene, has just recently released her first single Winter Snow.
