CIS Roundup 18 October: Laval’s Rouge lose for first time this season

MONTREAL — Sean Thomas Erlington had 16 carries for 182 yards and a touchdown as the defending Vanier Cup champion Montreal Carabins topped the No. 2 ranked Laval Rouge et Or 22-16 on Saturday in Canadian Interuniversity Sport football action.

Thomas-Erlington started the scoring by completing a four-play, 68-yard drive with a 42-yard run to make it 7-0.

Quarterback Gabriel Cousineau was 21-of-29 passing for 251 yards while also running for a touchdown for the No. 4 Carabins (4-2).

Hugo Richard completed 25-of-42 passes for 276 yards, a touchdown and an interception for Laval (5-1).
