Contact From A Short-Term Resident

We received this email today from a site user:

Dear Sir,

I was given your card by XXXX who works at St. Foy Elementary.  I was with my wife and had gone to see our daughter in her Christmas Production.  XXXX, overheard our English accents and explained what you were trying to do with your website.

We are on a placement with work for 6 months in Quebec City and will return to England in April 2012.  I am one of the first to have been placed by my firm in Q.C. and it is all a bit of an experiment at the moment but there are several of us over here and the scheme looks set to continue for several years.

I am over here with my wife and four kids and we have placed three of the kids in local schools for the duration.  We did a lot of ground work over the internet from the U.K. before coming over and did find information hard to obtain without knowing where to look – especially because of the French language issue.

We did get in touch with Voice of English Quebec and they were helpful but even so, getting accommodation proved to be very difficult.  I think that your website is a very good idea and will certainly pass on the site details to my colleagues.

Regards,
Paul Sweeney

Paul,

First of all, welcome to Quebec City.
You and your family have picked a truly wonderful part of the world in which to spend a few months (if not longer).

There’s so much to see and do here and we’re sure your brief stay will be an enjoyable one.

You’ll enjoy a white Christmas (99.999999999% guaranteed) and be here for the Carnaval de Québec and Hôtel de Glace. If you’re lucky, you’ll also witness the start of the maple syrup making season (get to a sugar cabin if you can) and be there at Redbull Crashed Ice and much more.

Thank you for your kind comments about Life in Quebec and if we can be of any assistance whatsoever, please do get in touch.
