Dufferin Terrace Kiosk to Reopen

Dufferin Terrace Kiosk to Reopen

Dufferin Terrace kiosk to be renamed 1884.

Quebec City (Quebec ) July 29, 2014 – The Princess Louise kiosk on Quebec City’s famous Duffern Terrace was closed a few weeks ago.

The call was made for new operators, and it was answered by Marc Duchesne and Marie-Elsa Proulx.

The new owners also take over the running of the slide – something enjoyed by many and offering magnificent views of the St Lawrence River, albeit at breakneck speed.

The members of the new administration will be offering authentic food products featuring artisans and producers from Quebec.

It was indeed a priority for Marc Duchesne and Marie-Elsa Proulx, co-owners provide the fullest possible visitor experience, while introducing them to a Quebec perspective to the historical, cultural and local flavours. The experienced team has worked to find a variety of products representative of the region and to develop partnerships with producers and artisans and across Quebec and Ile d’Orleans in the main.

All the products now offered are sourced locally such as ice creams, sorbets, frozen yogurts, various sandwiches, desserts and sweets.

Everything is carefully selected and promotes local expertise.

“It is important for us to show that what is available from the producers in our area is both unique and delicious!
We’ll be organising tastings in their presence, too. Whether with the company name (1884 was the first year the toboggan slide was open) or through archival photos and sporadic events by period characters, we also wanted to nod our head toward the history of the region. We have worked for several years in the tourism industry and the historical and local touch is important to us. In short, we want to make the Princess Louise stand a good place to grab a bite and taste the local flavours in an environment emphasizing the our regional history and heritage, all at affordable prices for the local population, tourists and day trippers.”

During the winter, the kiosk will again build on simple flavours and local food suppliers, combined with the activity of the famous toboggan slide Terrace. Details and winter packages will be announced in the fall.
