Champlain-St-Lawrence Students Committed to Making the Environment a Top Priority

One of the most surprising things about the ECO-St. Lo committee is without doubt the incredible diversity of its members. The group is of course composed of students and teachers, but then there are also members of the support staff and administration.

Together, they make up one of the College’s most enterprising committees. In only two years, they have succeeded in using their creativity and ironclad leadership to make the environment a top priority at Champlain Regional College – St. Lawrence.

And it works!

The committee members even managed to secure the status of Brundtland Green School for their institution, a title they were awarded during the presentation of The Little Green Concert, an event they organized themselves to raise funds for partner organizations such as Oxfam-Québec and the David Suzuki Foundation.

This year, a subcommittee was also set up with the goal of producing a green guide to ensure that the activities and events organized on campus are more eco-responsible.

The installation of multi-material recycling bins and the coordination of a campaign aimed at reducing the consumption of bottled water are other fine examples of the committee’s numerous achievements.
