PRESS RELEASE

EVERYDAY PEOPLE Exploring the history and culture of Quebec City’s English-speaking communities

MorrinCentre_Logo_RedQuebec City, February 12, 2013 – Author Louise Penny recently said of the Morrin Centre “This is where the Anglophones keep their stories and their history. It’s their vault.” On March 2, 2013, nine speakers including professors, journalists and the Consul General of the United States in Quebec City will meet for a bilingual one-day mini-colloquium at the Morrin Centre. Confuting traditional stereotypes and misconceptions, three panels of experts will focus on the history of Quebec City’s Anglophones, ordinary and extraordinary.

Starting at 10 a.m., the speakers will focus on work, culture and identity. To better explore these themes, they will answer the questions: “Who were the Anglos?”, “What did the Anglos do?” and “How are the Anglos different?”

Open to the general public, admission is free for all lectures, presentations and meals. A happy hour featuring songwriter-performer Randall Spear will round off the day at 6 p.m. Reservations are required for the lunch and cocktail offered exclusively to those attending the colloquium.

Please RSVP by Friday, February 22 at 418-694-9147 or info@morrin.org.

The complete program is available at www.morrin.org.
