Ex-Lieutenant Governor Lise Thibault Suffers Seizure

Age, fatigue, stress and previous health problems of the former Lieutenant-Governor Lise Thibault are likely to be the cause of the seizure that she suffered last Thursday evening.

Lise-ThibaultThese were some of the explanations given by her lawyer Marc Labelle to the press on Friday.

“I’m not a doctor, but you know, it is already difficult for a healthy person to testify during a long day,” he said at the end of the Court.

Yesterday, contrary to her routine, Mme Lise Thibault was conspicuous by her absence. She usually arrives around 9am for the proceedings.

After waiting a few minutes, her lawyer announced the news that Judge Carol St. Cyr had postponed further proceedings until September 2 where a new schedule would be established.

“I got a call in the small hours from Colonel Réal Cloutier, who advised me of the situation. Let us remember that earlier this week, I had produced a letter from her doctor, and I was mindful about this kind of situation, “said Me Labelle.

According to the words of Mr. Labelle on Friday morning, his client was “confused”.

“So I asked the doctor to have a talk with Mme Thibault and after this discussion, her doctor strongly advised me to make representations stating that my client could not be present in court due to health reasons,” he added.

He also emphasized that, according to information he has obtained, this type of situation would improve over the course of a few hours.

“My client has taken medication and now is now sleeping,” said the lawyer –  adding that Mme Lise Thibault had to undergo a brain scan next week on August 5.
