Famous chefs faceoff in Quebec City

Quebec City will be host to five of the most famous chefs in the world in a cook-off that will take place from February 9th to February 15th, 2014.

If you’ve never heard of the “Club des chefs des chefs” don’t feel left out, because very few people have. This elite club consists of 25 members who are chefs for the most important heads of state throughout the world and five of the best are coming here to prepare and serve a select group of guests, what will probably be a gastronomic experience of a lifetime.

The five head “Chefs de cuisine” involved are, Fabrizio Boca, Italy, Hilton Little, South Africa, Christian Garcia, Monaco, Cristela Comerford, USA, and Bernard Vaussion, France, all head cooks for their respective leaders. Hilton Little was at one time the chef for Nelson Mandela, and Ms. Comerford has been at the White House since 2005.

They will stay one night in a small hotel in Charlevoix known as La Ferme and will visit the First Nations Village of Wendake to savour some wild game cooking, unique to the area.

Their “main dish” will be served up on February 11 at Le Pignon Bleu, a benefit luncheon, which will be held at the Quebec Convention Centre in honour of the less fortunate population of the city.

The whole event has been organized by the Québec Office of Tourisme, Le Massif ski centre, and Radio Canada and hopes to promote the local gastronomy and culinary culture of the area at the same time.

The Club des Chefs des Chefs was formed in 1977 in France and its purpose is to promote the culinary differences between various countries around the world. They hold such an event in a different country every year. “ Bon Appetit”.
