With three months to go to the FIS Snowboard World Championships
Mazda Canada and Vidéotron get on board!

Québec City, October 23rd, 2012 – With fall in full swing, the FIS Snowboard World Championships organizing committee is working hard on the province’s first-ever senior FIS world championships in any sliding sport. Quebec Snow Sports Events inc. has kicked off the festivities by welcoming on board Mazda Canada and Vidéotron as major partners. Both will be there to cheer on the world’s best from January 15 to 27, 2013, and to create an unforgettable event for all!

2013 Snowboard Jamboree, Version World Championships

The Greater Québec City Area has hosted a FIS Snowboard World Cup every year for the past 15 years. In 2008, the FIS showed its faith in the organizers and awarded the ultimate event to Québec City and Stoneham: the 2013 World Championships for the six snowboard disciplines. It’s going to be quite the party for snowboard fans of all stripes at this meeting of champions – there’ll be an opening ceremony with live outdoor shows, 12 days of athletes competing to be crowned world champions in six disciplines, amateur competitions, a fashion show worthy of the world’s coolest catwalks, industry exhibits, and much more! In all, 400 participants from 35 countries will catch World Championship fever with the public, as the virus spreads across all of Snowboard Jamboree.

Two new business partners get in on the party…

ˆMazda Canada  World Championships title partner, Halfpipe presenting partner, and official vehicle provider

ˆVidéotron World Championships collaborating partner, Big Air presenting and technology partner

“Three months from the start of the FIS Snowboard World Championships, these agreements are proof positive that worldwide competitions in the Québec City area appeal not only to sports fans but to the business community too. With partners like Mazda Canada and Vidéotron, we will be able to work together to put on a truly spectacular event that the public won’t forget in a hurry,” says Martial DeRome, the visibly delighted president of Québec Snow Sports Events inc..

Mazda and Vidéotron are also delighted to be part of this major winter event. “Mazda Canada is excited to be a part of the FIS Snowboard World Championship games in Québec, and we look forward to seeing these talented athletes from all over the world compete here,” said Alain Desrochers, Eastern Regional Manager, Mazda Canada. “These competitors exhibit extreme agility, speed, and skill which we believe are also the core strengths of our Mazda vehicle line-up, and we look forward to showcasing these characteristics alongside the athletes.”

For her part, Myrianne Collin, Senior Vice President, Strategy and Marketing at Vidéotron, notes that, “Vidéotron is proud to be involved in the FIS Snowboard World Championships by presenting the spectacular Big Air event. Vidéotron will use its state-of-the-art technology to bring fans of sliding sports right to the heart of the action of this epic event on the slopes at Stoneham.”

In short, Mazda Canada and Vidéotron will be coming up with unique ways, which reflect their own company’s image, to help spectators experience the Big Air in downtown Québec City and other events at Stoneham as never before.

World Championships mean international TV coverage

TVA and TVA Sports confirmed in the agreement with Vidéotron that they will be covering the six FIS disciplines and organizers have already heard from TV stations around the world interested in covering the competitions on site. It’s just another sign of the importance of the must-see sporting event of 2013.
