Fourth Portneuf Drum Day Coming Soon

Musicians and fans will celebrate the fourth traditional music year on the Portneuf Drum day on November 24.

Organized by the Society of traditional arts of Portneuf (SATRAP), the event presented in the Carrefour in Portneuf will begin with a musical gala from 13:30 to 15:30.

Drums, violin, accordion, and other traditional instruments will relay on stage.

Steafan Hannigan, the teacher, and a musician capable of playing many instruments (and the author of “The Bodhran Book”), will lead a drum workshop at 15:30.

Two traditional music performances will be presented in the evening.

The Adage group will be performing at 8pm, followed by the group “Tu mén dira tant”at 9pm.

A musical session open to all will finish off the evening.

The day’s and SATRAP’s objective, is to bring back the importance of older musicians in Portneuf unique in the way they use drums which orginiate from Ireland.

Last year, the music festival brought together twenty musicians during the afternoon who put on a show in front of 75 spectators.

Admission is free in the afternoon and $12 ($ 10 for members SATRAP) in the evening.

The Carrefour is located at 500, Notre-Dame Street in the north of Portneuf.
