Ice Hotel Opens January 5th

For its 13th edition, Quebec’s Ice Hotel invites the public to dive in winter and discover its many characteristics, from January 5 to March 24, on the old Zoo site in Charlesbourg. The event is brought under the theme “A trip to the centre of winter” that artisans will take as their inspiration.

The president and general manager, Jacques Desbois, announced Monday morning that a visit at the hotel is an excellent occasion to discover different northern climate worlds either in culturally and scientifically as well as artistically. A particular guided tour of the site will be offered Saturdays and Sundays with reservations only.

As the experience of a night in the Ice Hotel is attracting more and more visitors, eight more rooms are added to the plans this year, taking the capacity to 44 rooms and suites. 80, 000 people showed up on the site last year and the organization expects to have 100, 000 visitors in total on March 24.

Thanks to an alliance with the RTC, a discount is offered to the Public transit clientele. When presenting any OPUS card, the owner will obtain a $2 discount for the entry on the site.

The opening evening is Friday January 18 with fireworks and artistic presentations. During the March break, Normandin proposing many outdoor activities at privileged cost for families will be back from March 4 to 8.
