Ice Hotel Quebec City

Ice Hotel Quebec City

The Ice Hotel is situated on the outskirts of Quebec City at 9530, rue de la Faune.

It’s open until March 27th so, there’s still time to go in 2011 if you haven’t been yet.

Local resident Ted Gunn visited with family and friends recently and stated ‘It’s quite an attraction located on the northern outskirts of the City. We took a guided tour and found it interesting but damn cold even on a day that was warmer than usual. The guide told us about the sleeping arrangements and how it is really quite warm once in bed – we were not convinced.’

Ted continued ‘We intended to have a drink at the “Ice Bar” before leaving but our friends, of Irish and French Canadian descent, were too cold to even think about it. However, being a Scot, I couldn’t pass up the occasion! I checked what was available and when the barmaid produced a bottle of Johnnie Walker Red Label, I said okay, and she poured me a shot in a glass made of ice – it didn’t take long to disappear and it was rather satisfying. Did you notice that I kept my gloves on? I was allowed to leave with the “Ice Glass” and I have preserved it in the freezer! ‘

If you want to visit the Ice Hotel it’s open until March 27th 2011.
If you’re braver than Ted Gunn, you can stay the night up until March 20th.
