International Destination Quebec 2020

International Destination Quebec 2020

The Office de Tourisme de Quebec (OTQ) is more determined than ever make Quebec an international destination by 2020 by taking advantage of its winter season and the St-Lawrence River.

Thought up in 2012, this project started off very slowly with a steady visitation rate for the previous year. The OTQ’s plan to improve Quebec’s image includes: more winter sports, cultural, and festive activities in the city, the development of a tourist Christmas market, and events with high media potential such as the Red bull Crashed Ice. These plans will allow the population to own winter and give tourists the chance to live and discover this season.

Also part of the OTQ plans, the development of the river banks, which will mainly be the continuation of the promenade Samuel-de-Champlain and the development of the Chute-Montmorency Park, is also a project starting in the next years. The cruise industry will also be developed as well as the coming of the great sails in 2017.

Alain Winter, president of the Quebec Carnival, was present at the press conference to support Quebec in this journey to make the city a winter destination of international level. More urban, festive, with more partnerships and closer to the population; this is what the Carnival’s 60th edition program should look like.
