J’ai ma pelle Program, 3rd September, 2012

Quebec, August 2012 – It is with much enthusiasm that J’ai ma place, with the collaboration of Budweiser and Groupe Vertdure, announce the program for the J’ai ma pelle event, a shovel full of symbolic soil, collective and festive that will take place on September 3rd.

The start of the walk will be in Carrefour Soumande (385 Soumande Street) at around noon and walkers should be there from 11a.m onwards. It is a 2.11 km walk which will lead to the future site of the multi-purpose arena (amphitheatre).

In addition to the animation on the site, the Pornflakes and their guests (Kevin Parent, David Usher, Jean-Pierre Ferland, Martin Deschamps, Jean-Marc, and Melissa from Star Academie 2012) will be present for the festivities and to support the event, together with Peter Stastny and Michel Goulet who will join the walkers. Quebec City citizens may participate in this earth shoveling and enjoy a variety of activities including inflatable games and a giant sand box with animation for children.

“We also invite all athletes from the city to participate in the march and this symbolic shovelling. Members of the Rouge et Or, the Remparts, Capitals, and Olympic athletes are welcome to represent their team, “said the mayor of Quebec City, Régis Labeaume.”It is a unifying project for all athletes in the city and region.”

“This is a very important project for the future of Quebec’s culture and sport,” said Mario Bédard, J’ai ma place President. “The construction of a new arena is officially a dream come true.”

Parking spaces are available free of charge, located under the Hydro-Québec power lines on 41st Street. A shuttle service will be offered to the parking site from 10:00 to 12:30 and 16:30 to 18:00 at the end of the event. Exceptionally for this occasion, parking Expocité will also be free.

To conclude, remember that the shovels are still available in Canac hardware stores and Ashton restaurants for ten dollars (+ taxes). Buying a shovel will entitle its holder to enter the draw for a chance to win many prizes including two seats in the new lodge in the amphitheatre worth $10,000 dollars, $5,000 dollars at la Clef de Sol, $5,000 dollars for les Galeries de la Capitale, and $5,000 dollars for l’Entrepôt du Hockey.

The money raised by selling shovels will be donated to the J’ai ma place foundation which was set up to enable people to participate actively in the amphitheatre’s construction in Quebec City.
