La Poutine Hits Edmonton

La Poutine Hits Edmonton

From Life in Quebec to Life out of Quebec now…

Former Quebec City residents Francis and her partner Lindsey Robbins have set up shop in Edmonton, Alberta.

Lindsey, an Edmontonian, and Francis, who hails from Quebec City, have opened up ‘La Poutine’, a restaurant specialising in yes, you guessed it, Quebec’s national dish.

Lindsey headed home a couple of years ago and Francis followed. While back in Alberta, they both noticed (in their opinion) how Western Canada was lacking a place to eat traditional, Quebec-style poutine. Following this discovery, Lindsey said that it was ‘only natural’ to choose this comfort food as their first business venture together.

Francis tells LifeinQuebec.com that ‘La Poutine, a poutine-only restaurant, opened May 2nd 2011 and it has been busier than we ever expected. Edmonton’s Francophone community has adopted La Poutine as one of their new hang-out spots and the Anglophone community is loving the chance to have true Quebec poutine. Without the airfare.’

So if you’re venturing out West and are hankering after a taste from home, you could do worse than heading over to see Francis and Lindsey at 8720-109 Street, Edmonton, AB.
