Lady Gaga and her entourage wallop Quebec City

Depending on when you read this Lady Gaga will either be arriving soon or she will have already come and gone. Her show is on the Plains of Abraham on July 4, which coincides of course with the 4th of July celebrations in the US, but has no significance for us here in Canada.

What is significant however is the team that is involved in preparing her shows. We use the plural because the Quebec show is only one of 78 presentations she will be performing throughout the year. She has a team of approximately 100 people who travel with her, who set up her decor, control the sound and generally make sure everything goes off without a hitch.

The Lady is quite strict and demanding apparently when she does a show, and the extravagance of it all requires accurate and often special techniques to pull it off with precision. Everyone is familiar with Lady Gaga’s “over the top” spectacles which is why she needs her own team to prepare her stage. She needs special lighting, special props and special sound technology to offer her public what they want.

Interestingly enough, the members of her crew who do the sound are a team from a Quebec company called Solotech and they look after all her audio requirements wherever she goes. Much like Céline Dion, whose team is composed almost entirely of Québecois, Lady Gaga relies on some Quebec talent to make her programme run smoothly, with a sound quality of utter perfection.

So whether you read this before or after,  just keep in mind that The Lady is no tramp – she was just born that way, and what she does on stage is planned, choreographed, and controlled by a team of engineers, and technicians of the highest standard who follow orders to a tee but, who you will most likely never see.
