Lauberivière Foundation Sets $600,000 Fundraising Goal

Serving the Lauberivière region that provides temporary housing, soup kitchens, and a program of rehabilitation and social reintegration for men and women in need, the Lauberivière Foundation has set its goal to raise $600,000 through its large annual fundraising campaign.

250,000 homes will also be mailshotted to educate all people in the greater Quebec City area about the cause.

Presented under the theme “Lauberivière we warm the body, heart and soul …” the event resulted in the participation of one of the Honorary Patrons of the Foundation, the Archbishop of Quebec, Bishop Gérald Cyprien Lacroix, who took the opportunity to hand out the broth as a symbolic gesture for the poor.

Michel Blouin, President of the Caisse Desjardins of the Quebec City Centre, a major partner of the campaign, Martin Parent, vice-president of the board of the foundation, and Yiling, CEO of Lauberivière were also at this first official activity.

More than $ 615,000 was collected last year by the Foundation in this important application which runs until January 31, 2013.

142,000 Meals at a Soup Kitchen

The organization offers nearly 142,000 meals at soup kitchens, 13,800 nights accommodation, 2,700 days of presence in social reintegration, 3,019 admissions to sobering up services, and many other services on a yearly basis.

According to the CEO of the Lauberivière, Yiling, over 5,000 people per year attend the school located on St. Paul Street in Quebec’s Lower Town.
