Lévis and Québec want Love for the Bridge

Quebec City (Quebec) 14 February 2015 – The cities of Québec and Lévis relayed a citizens’ initiative by Marie-Eve Wood and her husband, Jonathan Lamothe, which made clever use of Valentine’s Day to call on local people to “give love to the Québec Bridge.”

In the wake of the movement “Paint your bridge Bill” put launched in the fall of 2014, in which citizens took to letters and the internet to convince Bill Gates, major shareholder in the Canadian National Railway (CN) which owns the bridge, a brunch held in favor of the motion was held at the nearby Aquarium.  Both municipalities have asked their people to “testify their commitment to the Québec Bridge” by signing a special Valentine’s card on Saturday, February 14th.

To sign the card, those interested in participating in the initiative are invited to visit the Facebook group “Aimons le Pont de Québec“.

The new initiative ended with a big public event at the Palace of Bonhomme Carnaval February 14th between 3 and 5PM where participants could sign the love card to the Quebec Bridge. Thereafter, the greeting card will be forwarded to the CN headquarters.
