Lévis man charged for using dog repellant spray

Quebec City (Quebec) August 1, 2014 – A man has been charged with using dog spray as a weapon against some clients in a bar in Lévis.

Spray-canFor some reason the man was carrying the dog spray when he entered the bar with it hidden out of view and suddenly decided to spray several customers who were enjoying some refreshments on the sidewalk café.

The incident happened around 11.30pm Wednesday night of this week. The bar has not been identified as it was not directly implicated in the incident.

The individuals affected by the spray said they were suffering from irritated throats, and coughing spells, which abruptly spoiled their relaxing night out. No serious injuries were reported.

The individual was apprehended quickly by police and has been charged with armed aggression, unauthorized possession of a weapon, and for carrying an weapon with intention.

The reasoning behind the act is not yet known to police and was not divulged in front of the judge.

A second suspect in the matter was also detained by police but was soon released and is not facing any charges.
