Lévis police officer relieved of his duties

Lévis (Quebec) 04 September 2014 – A police officer on the City of Lévis police force has been fired from his job for having a sexual relationship with a minor.

Benjamin Pelletier had been on the force for 7 years and entered into a love affair with a girl of 15 years and nine months old in the spring of 2012.

When the force found out about the affair M. Pelletier was immediately suspended until his hearing last June on charges of sexual assault on a minor. He pleaded guilty to the charges and under article 119 of the police code he was automatically let go from the force.

It was noted that M. Pelletier, 30 had had sexual relations with the girl in Tanning salons, at her house, at his house and even in the patrol car he was using for work.

Any police officer that ends up with a criminal record is automatically fired no matter what the conviction.

Upon releasing the officer the City of Lévis stated, that under no circumstances, can an employee of a police force continue to do his job responsibly, or with respect when the said person is carrying a criminal conviction created by his own doing.
