Maison Girardin Harvest Festival a Success

Drawn by a host of activities based on the theme of agriculture, more than 300 people made the first harvest festival presented by la Maison Girardin by la Société d’art et d’histoire de Beauport a success.

Even with Wednesday’s cloudy skies, both young and old were able to taste delicious Indian corn from Potager France Marcoux de Beauport. There was fun to be had with the animals on site, including a pony. Children were able to get their faces painted in a variety of colors that represented the party, as well as to play in period games and visit the exhibition titled: Beauport en un tour de main.

For Natalie Perron, the new coordinator of the Girardin House, the success of the first edition consolidates the foundations of a second due to the active participation of many volunteers from the organization to support certain activities.

“Les Tourbillons de Beauport troupe helped the event by offering folk dance workshops as well as offering traditional music performances which were enjoyed by all. People were also allowed to learn more about Maize and agriculture in the Beauport area, thanks to the team of tour guides and several dedicated volunteers,” said Perron.

During the afternoon Mayor, Régis Labeaume and district councilors, Marie-France Trudel and Julie Lemieux came to participate in the event.
