Mayor Labeaume off again on an economic and cultural mission

Quebec City (Quebec) September 5, 2014 – Régis Labeaume, the mayor of Quebec City, is off to Belgium next fall to talk economy and culture but, he also has something else on his mind. M. Labeaume will be looking into the possibility of finding personnel to work in the hotels and restaurants in Quebec City where there is a definite lack of qualified local talent. He would also like to find IT technicians to fill another void.

The Mayor is going to the city of Namur, which has been designated a sister with Quebec City for 15 years now, making it what they call a twin city.

It is all part of the renowned Festival International du film Francophone de Namur held annually in the city and will hopefully give some exposure to Quebec film fans at the same time.

City hall hosted a team from Belgium this week including the Mayor of Namur in preparation for the mission planned for next September.

During the local event the Belgian committee donated to the city libraries, a classic collection of the most famous Francophone comic characters in the form of 250 volumes of Tin-Tin, Spirou, and Les Tuniques Bleues, all original Belgian creations.
