Monthly Entrepreneurship Lectures at the CJECC

Since autumn 2012, the Carrefour jeunesse-emploi Charlesbourg-Chauveau (CJECC) holds a monthly lecture series on Thursday evenings. The myths and realities of entrepreneurship safety, topics join the mission of the community organization: to promote economic and social integration and social and professional development of young people aged 16 to 35 years.

The formula for the Thursday-conferences are intimate, with efforts primarily on sharing, all questions are welcome. It is an initiative of Jeunes en action, a measure of CJECC that offers an alternative to social assistance for 18 to 24 years in proposing projects, training and other guidance activities to gain personal, social and professional autonomy.

The conferences have attracted an average of five to ten young people in the local CJECC located at Carrefour Charlesbourg (8500, boul. Henri-Bourassa). The April meeting of work in western Canada is among the most popular, the one on June 6th on job search was expected to again be a success, according to Philippe Dionne, a social worker and job counsellor, who hopes that the initiative returns next year.

A Literal Crossroads

“The challenge is to mobilize young people,” says one, whether dropouts, in search of a first job, or thinking about reorientation or returning to school. As such, in addition to the tools available to them (computers, resume templates, career guides choices …), the CJECC is trying to establish partnerships with other frontline organizations working with youth.

In fact, this summer, he will accompany those interested in urban development, which provide an opportunity for those aged 18 to 30 years to work as labourers in the development of various projects proposed by the City of Quebec. For those aged 15 to 18, he may recommend the Desjardins program – Jeunes au travail, which allows those to have their first summer job for six weeks.

These are some of the examples of activities supervised by CJECC, which is literally the “crossroads” for socio-professional services for those aged 18 to 35.
