If you drive a Nissan in Quebec, you might want to read this:

TOKYO – Japanese automaker Nissan announced the recall of approximately 900,000 vehicles worldwide, including about 755,000 in Japan, due to a throttle problem.

The recall applies to four models (Serena, X-Trail, Lafesta, Fuga), produced between October 2004 and last June.

According to Nissan, Approximately 150,000 vehicles sold abroad are also involved.

The problem relates to a sensor which measures the pressure on the accelerator pedal.

In certain circumstances, if the driver’s foot presses the pedal to a certain angle, a measurement error ic created giving the onboard computer false statements that can potentially stall the engine.

Tens of thousands of Suzuki cars are also being recalled for the same concerns.

Some 1,432 claims have been made against Nissan and Suzuki concerning the problem in Japan, although no accidents have been recorded, according to documents released by the ministère des Transports.

If you have a Nissan, you may want to take it down to your local dealer and see if the recall applies.
