A promising start to the season for the Je Cours Qc running event series.

Quebec City, Tuesday, April 26, 2017 – Not only is the Oasis Lévis Half-Marathon full to capacity just under two weeks before its 14th edition gets underway, the event has set a new record for registrations this year with a whopping 3,500 runners registered for the four distance races taking place this May 7, namely the 21.1K (half marathon), Oasis 10K, 5K and Tanguay Kids Race. That’s a 21% increase in registrations for the 2017 event over last year’s races.

“We really couldn’t have asked for a better way to kick off the 2017 calendar of events for the Je Cours Qc running series,” said Chantal Lachance, Vice-President of Marketing and Operations for event organizer Gestev. “Initially we’d been hoping to boost registration by 13% over last year, and we busted right through that ambitious target around a month before the race. And when we saw just how much interest there was in the event, we reviewed our operations and were able to open up 250 extra spots, which were all snapped up in next to no time. Beating a record for registrations like this on the first race of the season certainly bodes well for the events to come!”

Once again this year, the Oasis Lévis Half-Marathon has attracted runners from all over the world. Running enthusiasts from across Quebec, Ontario, Alberta and many U.S. states including California, Vermont, Georgia and Texas will be making the journey to take part, and some runners are travelling thousands of kilometres from as far afield as Brazil, Germany, France and Australia, making the 2017 Oasis Lévis Half-Marathon one for the history books.

Much more than a race
With registrations reaching such record numbers, the atmosphere in Lévis will be festive to say the least—not just for the runners but for companions and spectators too! Crowds of all ages will be gathering at the Juvénat Notre-Dame school in Saint-Romuald for a celebration of running in an atmosphere buzzing with energy that bears all the hallmarks of a Gestev event.

Four more Je Cours Qc events yet to come
While the Oasis Half-Marathon is full to capacity already, running fans can still sign up for four more events in the 2017 Je Cours Qc running series.
