Orléans gourmand – From Roots to the Plate

Something new at la Maison de nos Aïeux
Orléans gourmand: From Roots to the Plate

The François-Lamy Foundation is proud to announce that a new permanent exhibition will be inaugurated at la Maison des Aïeux this fall. Dealing with orleans agriculture over time, this new exhibition allows visitors to better understand and appreciate its diversity.

Historically, Orleans Island is known for its agricultural expertise. Passed down from generation to generation since the early founders who settled in the mid 17th century, this expertise has shaped traditions and the landscape that now constitute the heart of the Orleans’ heritage.

It is this heritage that the Francois-Lamy’s Foundation strives to preserve and transmit to future generations.

The new exhibition ‘Orléans gourmand: From Roots to the Plate’ at la Maison de nos Aïeux will allow visitors to understand the evolution of practices and agricultural life on the Orleans Island, subsistence agriculture to today’s agriculture, going through the beginnings of agriculture and industrial market. The Orléans gourmand: Roots to the Plate exhibition will therefore highlight the importance of this economic activity on the island since the beginning of the colony.

This exhibition will replace the La Famille avant tout! The expo presented on the first floor at la Maison de nos Aïeux since 2003.

The Orléans gourmand: Roots to the Plate exhibition is made possible through the renewal program of the Ministry of Culture’s permanent exhibitions and Communications et de la Condition féminine.

The François-Lamy Foundation also acknowledges the financial support given from the CLD of the Orleans Island for this project.
