Parkour Workshop to draw World’s Best

Parkour Workshop to draw World’s Best

On June 7th and 8th, for the third time, the Académie québécoise d’art du déplacement will be holding a workshop open to the public in Quebec City.  World-renowed figures of parkour from France, England, and the United States will be coming to share their knowledge with the public, ever interested in new complete and alternative training methods.  This is a sporting, cultural, and social event not to be missed.

The workshop, aimed as much at neophytes as at experienced pros, is a unique occasion to learn from the best the world has to offer.  People of all disciplines will surely find inspiration from these athletes and artists known the world over.

The Art of Displacement

ADD, short for art du déplacement, is also known as parkour.  It is the art of moving from one place to another using three fundamental motor abilities – running, jumping, and climbing – in all their variety.  Contrary to the images showcased by certain media, it is not an extreme sport; anyone who wishes to learn to move differently and better appreciate their environment.  A complete training method where adherents learn to combine force, endurance, coordination, agility, balance, and creativity, ADD is also a series of values pertinent to today’s society: courage and perseverance, self-awareness and respect of others, help and sharing.

Distinguished Guests

Parkour Generations is one of the great references in parkour.  This organisation based in England has an impressive team of athletes, creators, and educators, among which are the pioneers and developers of the discipline.  We will have the honor of welcoming one of the directors of Parkour Generations, François “Forrest” Mahop.  M. Chau Belle, one of the founders of the well-known Yamakasi and originators of ADD, will also be present.  M. Belle is one of the pillars of the ADD Academy (France) and its education program, and he is also co-founder of Majestic Force, an artistic production label.  Various other instructors and guests will be present, including the founders of the Académie québécoise d’art du déplacement.
