Pentathlon des neiges Breaks Participation Record

Records follow one another from one year to the next at the Pentathlon des neiges in Quebec. It has just recently been confirmed winter multi-sports world leader with its 4,802 participants in its 9th edition.

The event’s general director, François Caletta, revealed the official program in the centre of its famous ice ring on the Plains of Abraham.

This year’s record beats the record established in 2012 by more than 1,000 people.

This number confirms, according to the Triathlon International Union, Quebec as a winter multi-sports world leader. This incredible growth over the last few years generates much interest all around the world.

The increasing participation to this winter sports event combining cycling, walking, cross country skiing, speed skating, and snowshoeing is such that 8 Canadian provinces will be represented in the eight challenges dispatched over the five days of competition.

Like every year, spectators are invited to freely assist the different races. They can also participate in many free animation activities such as the rock-climbing initiation wall, the Merrel tricoton, and the Raquettes géantes GV challenge.
