Plans for Gilmore Hill to open all year

The Labeaume administration is still waiting for the National Battle Fields commission’s decision for the opening of the Gilmore Hill.

Recently, it reached a point by agreeing to the expense of $286,000 for plans.

Their principle was that if the federal government made a decision, they would be able to react quickly. This way, the executive committee of Quebec City approved a law to lend $286,000. This amount was promised to the NBFC for studies of plans to create the construction sites on Gilmore Hill.

For the hill to be accessible in all seasons the wall must be changed, a sidewalk must be added as well as a staircase for walkers. The opening of Gilmore Hill all year round is possible but the work for this to be done will cost in the region of $6.5 million.

Quebec City is willing to pay for the maintenance costs which are evaluated at $9million over 30 years.

The final decision has not yet been made.
