In late October, 2015 LifeinQuebec.com was invited to the Jeffery Hale Hospital building in Quebec City to speak with Brigitte Wellens, the recently appointed Executive Director of the Voice of English-speaking Québec (VEQ).

We discussed Quebec City, the region, the vitality of the English community, how VEQ has changed over the years, its relevance today, and her role as Executive Director.

Here are some of the questions we asked:

Q: How long have you been in post now and how are you finding it?

Q: You took over from a hard act to follow, someone who had been the Executive Director for years. How is the transition going?

Q: Are you getting support from your new colleagues too?

Q: What does your job entail?

Q: What made you want to apply for the job?

Q: Can you tell me a bit more about the VEQ, how long has it been in existence, why was it formed, what is/was its role?

Q: Is it (VEQ) relevant today?

Q: Can you tell me a bit about your involvement with the VEQ prior to becoming the Executive Director?

Q: How can people here get involved and what is there to do?

Q: Tell me a bit more about the advocacy work that VEQ does?

Q: How do people moving here find out about the VEQ?

Q: Lots going on, all sorts of committees and activities, what about helping newcomers adapt to the region?
