Police raid marijuana growing operation in Charlesbourg

cannabisWhat goes on behind closed doors can quite often be more surprising than we think and this week in Charlesbourg, in a quiet residential area, what was going on at one of the neighbours’ was unveiled in a dramatic fashion.

The Sûreté du Québec (SQ) set up a raid this week on 40 different residences all around the province to snuff out home grow-ops of marijuana plants and one of those places was on Rue Elise in a borough of Quebec City.  The house in question gave no hint to anyone that any mischievous behaviour was taking place inside its four walls in fact, everything looked perfectly normal.

As it turned out, during the raid, police uncovered a grow-op of over 2000 plants being cultivated and cared for in the basement of the unsuspicious domicile. Where police get their information is unknown but, they got it right and all the neighbours were in awe as the SQ carried out its mission in a precise and orderly manner. The two residents of the house were arrested on the spot.

Not only was there a marijuana “plantation” but the operators had also rewired the house to avoid having the extreme use of electricity show up on their hydro bill, a common practice among growers of pot.

Police remind citizens that anonymous tips are often instrumental in putting an end to illegal drug-growing operations like this one.
