Police say drugs may be cause of deaths of two men 48 hours apart in Quebec residence

SAGUENAY, Que. — One of two Quebec men found dead in the same bed less than 48 hours apart had to be revived from a suspected drug overdose just days before, police said Wednesday.

Saguenay police spokesman Bruno Cormier said a particularly dangerous chemical drug is making the rounds in the area about 250 kilometres north of Quebec City.

Police have said the men in their 30s were known to authorities and knew each other.

The body of Eric Migneault, 34, was found Sunday, while that of the second man was discovered on Tuesday morning.

That 33-year-old man as well as a woman had to be revived last Friday after apparently taking an overdose.

“There’s something out there that is currently being added to chemical drugs that can result in respiratory failure and even death,” said Cormier.

Migneault did not live in the residence but the second man did, said Cormier, adding they were found “in the same apartment, the same bedroom, the same bed.”

The two bodies have been sent to Montreal for autopsies.
