QAC Holds Auditions for Spring Play 2012

Submitted by Ladd Johnson

The Quebec Art Company has chosen “Deathtrap”, written by Ira Levin, for its spring play and will be holding auditions for the play on Sunday, January 15, 2012, at 3:00 pm in Carter Hall (31 rue des Jardins, Quebec).

This comedy-thriller is set in the country home of a successful playwright who is desperate to overcome a string of recent box office flops.

A possible stroke of luck arrives in the form of a former student with a promising manuscript in hand. In collaboration with his wife, he sets his trap and as tensions mount, the plot takes unexpected turns.

This play, the longest running comedy-thriller on Broadway, was nominated for a Tony award in 1978, and was adapted as a movie starring Christopher Reeve, Michael Caine, and Dyan Cannon in 1982.

Nathalie Peron will direct this intense and intimate play. Only a small cast of 3 males (two middle-aged, one young) and 2 females (middle-aged) is required, but as usual, the company is also looking for people interested in helping off-stage (set, costume, backstage, publicity, makeup, etc.) and encourages them to come to the auditions as well to learn how they might become involved.

For those only interested in seeing the show, the dates for the performances are already set for May 3-6 – mark your calendars! For additional information, visit the QAC website –
