Jesus Christ Superstar is coming – casting begins soon!

Want to be part of the cast of Jesus Christ Superstar, one of the top musicals of all time?

The Quebec Art Company, the city’s renowned English-language theatre group, is staging the moving masterpiece by Andrew Lloyd Weber and Tim Rice next spring (2018). The QAC has produced more than 60 high-quality dramatic and musical performances over 35 years.

We want to see the best voices and musicians possible take part in this adventure, and that’s why we are sending out an early casting call, beginning with the several principal singing roles in this large ensemble.

Auditions will take place Sunday, June 4, at Holland School, 940 Ernest Gagnon.

This first round of auditions will focus on the principal characters:

Jesus (tenor)
Judas (tenor)
Annas (tenor)
Caiaphas (bass)
King Herod (tenor)
Mary Magdalene (mezzo-soprano)
Peter (tenor)
Simon Zealotes (tenor)
Pontius Pilate (baritone)
Soul Sisters (three-part harmony)

We ask you to come prepared to sing a song from Jesus Christ Superstar for the role you would prefer to portray.

Feel free to interpret the song in your own way. Part of what makes JCS such a distinctive show and fun to stage is how everything from voices to set design is open to creative interpretation. It’s important you demonstrate your ability to communicate personality, character and intention through song.

If your audition is successful, you may be offered a different role than the one you auditioned for, or invited to join the chorus.

Females will be auditioning by appointment in the morning between 10 a.m. and noon, males in the afternoon between 1 and 5 p.m.. We ask you to submit your name, telephone numbers, email address and name of the character for which you plan to audition to Peter Calkins at on or before midnight on Monday, May 29.

You will then be invited to audition by appointment at a precise time. Please also indicate if you will not be available for all or part of the scheduled audition times, and we will try to make other arrangements.

This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to join with other talented performers in presenting an extraordinary work of musical theatre.
