QMJHL Roundup 13 December: Sagueneens over Armada in overtime and more

CHICOUTIMI, Que. — Gabryel Paquin-Boudreau scored his second of the game 1:08 into overtime to lift the Chicoutimi Sagueneens to a 4-3 victory over the Blainville-Boisbriand Armada on Saturday in Quebec Major Junior Hockey League action.

Landon Schiller and Nicolas Roy also scored for the Sagueneens (14-15-4) while Paquin-Boudreau picked up two assists for a four-point night.

Jacob Hickey put Blainville-Boisbriand (11-16-6) on the board in the second period and Shawn Miller and Joel Teasdale scored back to back within the final seven minutes to rally from a two-goal deficit.

Julio Billia stopped 31 shots and chipped in with an assist in the victory. Mark Grametbauer made 15 saves in the losing effort.

Chicoutimi was 2 for 4 on the power play while the Armada failed to score on two chances with the man advantage.

SEA DOGS 4 SCREAMING EAGLES 3

SYDNEY, N.S. — Joe Veleno’s goal 1:45 into the third period stood as the winner as Saint John halted the Screaming Eagles’ win streak at four games.

Adam Marsh, Sam Povorozniouk and Mathieu Joseph also scored for the Sea Dogs (19-12-2).

Phelix Martineau scored twice for Cape Breton (18-14-3), once shorthanded and once on a power play. Michael Joly had the other Screaming Eagles goal.

ISLANDERS 5 VOLTIGEURS 1

CHARLOTTETOWN — Olivier Cooper scored twice and Filip Rydstrom added four assists to power the Islanders over Drummondville and snap a four-game slide.

Alexandre Goulet had a goal and a helper and Will Thompson and Shawn Boudrais also scored for Charlottetown (13-17-3).

Alex Barre-Boulet scored for the Voltigeurs (16-18-0).

HUSKIES 5 OLYMPIQUES 2

ROUYN-NORANDA, Que. — Allan Caron’s power-play goal 9:28 into the second period stood as the deciding goal and the Huskies extended their win streak to eight games with a victory over Gatineau.

Philippe Myers scored shorthanded for Rouyn-Noranda (26-3-4) and Louis-Filip Cote, Jean-Christophe Beaudin and Alexandre Fortin rounded out the attack.

Yan Pavel Laplante had a power-play goal and an assist for the Olympiques (21-10-2). Marc-Olivier Crevier-Morin also scored.

FOREURS 5 CATARACTES 4 (OT)

VAL-D’OR, Que. — Jan Mandat scored 3:28 into overtime to extend the Foreurs’ win streak to 14 games with a home victory over Shawinigan.

Nicolas Aube-Kubel, Alexis Pepin, Shawn Oullette-St-Amant and Mandat contributed a goal and an assist apiece for Val-d’Or (24-7-3). Olivier Galipeau had the other goal.

Alexis D’Aoust scored two for the Cataractes (21-9-3), Brandon Gignac added a power-play goal and Louis-Philip Fortin tied the game 12:47 into the third period.
