QMJHL Roundup 24 October: Samuel Blais, Felix Lauzon lead Tigres past Cataractes

SHAWINIGAN, Que. — Samuel Blais and Felix Lauzon each had two goals and an assist as the Victoriaville Tigres topped the Shawinigan Cataractes 6-4 on Friday night in Quebec Major Junior Hockey League action.

Maxime Comtois scored once and added three assists for the Tigres (9-5-1) with Jake Barter adding the other.

Giovanni Fiore, Mathieu Olivier, Alexis D’Aoust and Jocktan Chainey found the back of the net for Shawinigan (11-3-0).

Olivier Tremblay made 33 saves for Victoriaville while Mikhail Denisov turned away 37 shots for the Cataractes.

The Tigres were 1 for 3 on the power play while Shawinigan scored once on five chances with the man advantage.

SAGUENEENS 12 DRAKKAR 1

BAIE-COMEAU, Que. — Jonathan Bourcier scored four times and added two assists as Chicoutimi demolished the Drakkar.

Gabryel Paquin-Boudreau and Ladon Schiller both had a goal and two assists for Chicoutimi (5-8-1), which scored eight times in the first period. Garrett Johnston, Louis-Charles Lemay, Nicolas Roy, Frederic Allard, Zachary Lavigne and Antoine Marcoux rounded out the attack.

Simon Chevrier responded with a goal in the third period for the Drakkar (3-10-0).

Baie-Comeau’s Nicolas Leblond was ejected at 6:43 of the third period for abuse of officials. Teammate Simon Chevrier later received a game misconduct for aggressor at 19:13 of the third period.

SCREAMING EAGLES 4 MOOSEHEADS 1

HALIFAX — Peyton Hoyt broke a tie with a power-play goal late in the second period as Cape Breton got past the Mooseheads.

Evgeny Svechnikov also scored on the power play for the Screaming Eagles (7-8-2). Phelix Martineau and Colby Tower rounded out the attack.

Barrett Dachyshyn opened the scoring for Halifax (6-9-2) early in the first period.

TITAN 6 ISLANDERS 2

BATHURST, N.B. — Vladimir Kuznetsov scored his second of the game on the power play and added an assist as the Titan downed Charlottetown.

Mark Trickett had a goal and two assists for Acadie-Bathurst (4-11-1), while Christophe Boivin, Jeffrey Truchon-Viel and Antoine Morand also chipped in.

Bradley Kennedy and Filip Chlapik found the back of the net for the Islanders (8-7-1).

HUSKIES 6 FOREURS 5 (OT)

VAL-D’OR, Que. — Julien Nantel scored his second of the game in overtime as Rouyn-Noranda edged the Foreurs.

Francis Perron also struck twice for the Huskies (12-1-3) with Jean-Christophe Beaudin and Philippe Myers adding the others.

Anthony Richard had a goal and three assists for Val-d’Or (9-5-3). Julien Gauthier chipped in with two goals while Alexis Pepin and Anthony Beauregard also had a goal.

REMPARTS 5 OCEANIC 2

RIMOUSKI, Que. — Bronson Beaton and Matthew Boucher scored power-play goals in the first period as Quebec beat the Oceanic.

Dmytro Timashov had a goal and three assists for the Remparts (7-7-1) while Beaton and Boucher tacked on two assists apiece. Massimo Carozza and Charley Graaskamp rounded out the attack.

Pierre-Olivier Demers and Samuel Laberge had goals for Rimouski (9-4-0).

PHOENIX 5 VOLTIGEURS 3

SHERBROOKE, Que. — Guillaume Gauthier struck twice as the Phoenix got past Drummondville.

Nicolas Poulin, Daniel Audette and Chase Harwell also scored for Sherbrooke (5-9-2).

Aaron Kerr, Kevin Laliberte and Sergei Voikov had goals for the Voltigeurs (10-6-0).

OLYMPIQUES 3 ARMADA 0

GATINEAU, Que. — Mathieu Bellemare stopped all 16 shots he faced as the Olympiques shut out Blainville-Boisbriand.

Vitalii Abramov, Austin Eastman and Jeffrey Durocher provided the offence for Gatineau (8-5-1).

Samuel Montembeault turned away 29 shots for the Armada (6-8-2).
