QMJHL Roundup December 19 – Tigres pull Oceanic into overtime

RIMOUSKI, Que. — Antoine Dufort-Plante had a hat trick of sorts for the Rimouski Oceanic.

Dufort-Plante had a pair of goals and added an assist in regulation time before scoring the shootout winner as Rimouski edged the Victoriaville Tigres 6-5 on Friday night in Quebec Major Junior Hockey League action.

Samuel Laberge scored in the first period, added two assists and had a shootout goal for the Oceanic (20-10-4), while Samuel Beck and Simon Bourque also scored in regulation. Hunter Moreau added a goal in the shootout. Louis-Philip Guindon made 26 saves and turned aside three of five skaters in the shootout for the win.

Pascal Laberge scored and had three assists for Victoriaville (15-13-6). Tristan Pomerleau and Marc Beckstead also scored as the Tigres had three unanswered goals in the third period. Kyle Tibbo and Gabriel Gagne both had power-play goals in the first period. Olivier Tremblay stopped 22 shots for Victoriaville.

Rimouski went 3 for 3 on the power play, while the Tigres were 4 for 8 with the man advantage.

TITAN 6 ISLANDERS 1

CHARLOTTETOWN — Mark Simpson had a short-handed goal and two assists to lead Acadie-Bathurst past the Islanders.

Guillaume Brisebois and Christophe Boivin each had a goal and assist for the Titan (13-19-3), who have won three straight. Mark Trickett, Jeffrey Truchon-Viel and Daniil Miromanov chipped in as well.

Johnny Foley was the lone scorer for Charlottetown (13-19-3).

WILDCATS 7 EAGLES 4

MONCTON, N.B. — Cameron Askew struck twice as the Wildcats scored three unanswered goals to charge past Cape Breton.

Lane Cormier and Stephen Johnson also scored in the three-goal outburst for Moncton (24-10-4), which has four straight wins. Conor Garland, Zachary Malatesta and Zack MacEwen found the back of the net as well.

Michael Joly had a pair of goals and two assists for the Screaming Eagles (19-15-3). Pierre-Luc Dubois and Declan Smith also scored.

SEA DOGS 3 MOOSEHEADS 1

SAINT JOHN, N.B. — Nathan Noel scored a short-handed goal in the third period as the Sea Dogs topped Halifax.

Luke Green and Ryan Chiasson also scored for Saint John (20-13-2).

Maxime Fortier replied for the Mooseheads (12-18-5).

BOISBRIAND, Que. — Callum Booth stopped all 36 shots he faced as Quebec shut out the Armada.

Massimo Carozza scored twice for the Remparts (21-12-3) and Zachery Moody had a goal as well.

Francis Leclerc turned aside 34-of-36 shots for Blainville-Boisbriand (13-17-6).

CHICOUTIMI, Que. — Frederic Allard had the power-play winner as the Sagueneens slipped past Baie-Comeau.

Nicolas Roy also scored for Chicoutimi (15-16-4).

Jordan Martel responded for the Drakkar (5-25-2).

OLYMPIQUES 5 CATARACTES 4

GATINEAU, Que. — Alexandre Landreville had the eventual winner as the Olympiques held on for a win over Shawinigan.

Yan Pavel Laplante scored twice for Gatineau (22-10-2), while Vitalii Abramov and Dylan Callaghan chipped in as well.

Alex Pawelczyk struck twice on the power play for the Cataractes (21-10-3). Louis-Philip Fortin and Giovanni Fiore scored as well.

VOLTIGEURS 3 PHOENIX 2

DRUMMONDVILLE, Que. —Michael Carcone’s goal late in the third period stood as the winner in the Voltigeurs’ win over Sherbrooke.

Justin Guenette and Jasmin Boutet rounded out the attack for Drummondville (18-18-0).

Julien Pelletier supplied the offence for the Phoenix (13-17-5).

HUSKIES 5 FOREURS 3

ROUYN-NORANDA, Que. — Julien Nantel and Francis Perron had power-play goals to lift the Huskies over Val-d’Or.

Peter Abbandonato, Alexandre Fortin and Zachary Lauzon had the other goals for Rouyn-Noranda (27-4-4).

Nicolas Aube-Kubel, Shawn Ouellette-St-Amant and Alexis Pepin scored for the Foreurs (25-8-3).
