Québec City Chamber of Commerce and Industry Welcomes Port Investment

The Minister of Infrastructure, Communities and Intergovernmental Affairs Denis Lebel announced an investment of $ 65M from the federal government at the Port of Quebec. The Québec City Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCIQ) welcomes this announcement.

“This is a crucial step in the development of this important project for the region,” argues Alain Aubut, President and CEO of CCIQ. “We can only welcome this support which will improve the competitiveness of the port, one of the key infrastructures of our economy. ”

Recall that the expansion of the Port of Québec will have significant repercussions in the region, according to Chamber of Commerce. Indeed, the $ 60 million announced by the federal government are part of a global project of $ 190M, which in turn will generate private investment estimated between 250 and $ 400 million, according to the port authority. Major economic benefits, not to mention the creation of 1,200 jobs per year to carry out the construction project forward for 5 years and 1,100 additional permanent jobs thereafter.
